As part of engaging our pupils in a rich learning experience, the Primary 3 pupils took part in a learning journey at the HDB Gallery during the last two weeks of Term 1. The field-based learning integrated both the English Language and Social Studies subjects.
At the HDB Gallery, pupils explored the different zones within the gallery and learnt all about Singapore’s Public Housing. Through the multi-sensory and multi-exploratory exhibits, pupils were able to immerse themselves into the lifestyles of HDB residents as well as discover over 50 years of Singapore’s public housing story.
Our teachers acted as guides and our pupils learnt how they can contribute towards a better living environment by supporting HDB’s sustainability efforts. We also learnt the need to constantly refine designs of new estates to meet the needs of the ever changing community as seen in the development of Punggol and Tengah estates.
Although the learning journey was a short one, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and hoped to return to the gallery with our families as entrance is free!
