On 14th July 2016, 12 of our very own Pei Chun students represented the school in Raffles Girls’ Primary School’s inaugural NewsMaker Competition.
This competition is a collaboration between RGPS and EyePower Pte Ltd in support of the Speak Good English Movement (SGEM). The aim of the competition is to cultivate a love for the English Language through the use of innovative and engaging broadcasting technologies. Through research and collaboration, the pupils were able to learn more about their topic, which was on showing kindness to the community.
After learning how to use NewsMaker, an immersive digital video-news making software, teams prepared scripts, music pieces, videos and photographs to be included in their video production. Teams were then judged based on the overall content, good use of language, media and the video’s overall aesthetic appeal.
The pupils were given less than two weeks to complete their projects and they worked hard to produce their videos during their recess breaks and after school. Our Pei Chun pupils were:
Group 1 – Stephanie Thang Hui Wen (4B), Leow Pei Hann (4H), Nathan Yap Ka Jun (4H) and Tan Jing Heng (4G) who presented on showing kindness in school and they focused on the topic of bullying.
Group 2 – Heng Si Ying, Clara (4C), Beatrice Foo Yaqi (4G), Josiah Tan Bo Seng (4F) and Lin Fangzhe (4A) focused on the topic of being gracious on public transport.
Group 3 – Alexander Mark Amaraganthan (4C), Melissa Ham (4B), Xu Ruojin (4I) and Evander Chiam Zern (4D) who presented on being proactive when showing kindness.
Our Pei Chun pupils did us proud with their excellent video productions. Each and every one of them gained a tremendous amount of knowledge and was thankful to for the opportunity to be part of such an enriching experience.
