Founders Day Celebration

School Celebrations

We turn 83 this year and this would not have been possible without the commitment and support of all our stakeholders. Our School Management Committee in particular have always been behind us in every move we make.  It was therefore apt that on Friday 13 May 2016, our Chairman, Dr Chau Sik Ting BBM,PBM, was our Guest of Honour at the Founders’ Day Assembly.

This year’s theme was ‘Embracing the Next Phase’  – a signal that we are ready to embrace our move to our holding site at where the former First Toa Payoh Secondary School used to be.  It is with great excitement and anticipation that we embrace the impending PERI upgrading.

Upon arrival at school, and as a tradition started when we turned 80, Dr Chau planted a starfuit tree in the school compound. This was witnessed by other members of the board, our school leaders and members of the PSG Exco.

Thereafter, a performance by our SYF CCA groups took place in the Hall and certificates and awards were given to staff for their long service and promotions.

Dinner

Being 83 years old is a significant achievement. On Saturday 14 May 2016, the school commemorated Founders’ Day with a fund-raising dinner. Many guests were curious about our upgrading plans so our Guest of Honour for the night, Chairman of the School Management Committee, Dr Chau Sik Ting BBM,PBM, launched photos and information with regard to the PERI Upgrading.  Guests were treated to information presented in a video, on what would be taking place and what to expect when we return to our existing site in 2019. A series of photos which were an artist’s impression of what the new school would look like, was also put up on display in the hall.

Indeed, we are ready to embrace the future.

To this end, many of our guests donated generously to the school-building fund.

In attendance at the dinner were 30 senior citizens from the Care Corner near school. The School Management Committee and staff, played hosts to these senior citizens who each left with a goodie-bag of food and supplies. Our retired teachers were not forgotten too and with the many alumni present that night, many renewals of friendship were made.
