Training of P5 Prefects as Service Ambassadors for the Adopt-A-Station Project.
This is the second year that our school has adopted the Toa Payoh MRT Station in the Adopt-A-Station Project with SMRT. This community outreach programme encourages our pupils to demonstrate gracious behaviour on public transport, and build a sense of ownership and belonging between the pupils and the neighbourhood.
In January this year, thirty-eight Primary 5 Prefects were trained to serve as Service Ambassadors at the Toa Payoh MRT Station. This is aligned with the school’s effort to nurture our pupils to be Proactive and Caring Leaders.
P6 Prefects Learning Journey to SMRT Depot @ Kim Chuan
Our P6 prefects who had served as SMRT Service Ambassadors in 2015 were given an opportunity to visit the SMRT depot in January. There, they learnt about the history of Mass Rapid Transport and even got to view the maintenance pit area where they witnessed how trains were repaired and washed. They also visited the Operational Control Centre to see how the new Downtown line trains were operated “driverless” and how the CCTV coverage worked to ensure security at MRT stations is not compromised.
It was indeed an enjoyable and meaningful experience for our P6 SMRT Service Ambassadors.
